Here is some information about accommodation options in the approximate vicinity of the Convention Venue.
We think that a very good source of information is to be found on Google Maps. If you click on this link you will be presented with a map of the Auckland CBD (the map will open in another tab). The little labels with a price on are where accommodation is to be found. Hover your mouse cursor over a label and it will tell you about that accommodation option. Zooming in (expanding the map) shows more labels to consider. The prices shown tend to be the list price, so if you wish to seek a deal for your chorus, you should ask for a “Group Booking”, and of course anyone can negotiate the price as they see fit.
The convention venue is at the north-west corner of Victoria Park, next to the Quest on Beaumont. You can use Google maps to find out walking times. Try clicking on the Hilton Hotel on the end of Prices Wharf and when the new picture comes up, click on the blue circle ‘Directions’ icon. Then click on the Victory Convention Centre. Then make sure you have selected the walking man on the very top line of the panel on your left. The map will plot the route for you. In this case it suggests the walk between the Hilton Hotel and the Victory Convention Centre is 20 minutes. The further you get from the waterfront, the higher up you go and while walking to the venue downhill is ‘good’, walking back to the accommodation is ‘good for you’!
